I used to be a classical musician. I guess I still am, but haven’t played in years.

I started playing the clarinet in fifth grade, picked up the saxophone in sixth grade and then began learning how to play the flute in seventh grade and piccolo in eighth grade, and quickly achieved a high level of proficiency on all four.

I used to play in orchestras, wind ensembles, jazz bands and combos, marching bands, a ragtime ensemble and anything else that came my way. I was also in the pit orchestra for three musicals (Guys and Dolls twice and Once Upon a Mattress). I was voted ‘Most Musical’ in my high school and also had first chair in a regional band one year on clarinet. I was also in a select metropolitan orchestra the last year of high school and a select wind ensemble the last two years of high school. I also got to play the piccolo solo for 'Stars and Stripes Forever' at a fourth of July celebration one time.
